The BicycleAttorney.com road team enjoyed a very successful 2010 campaign with over a dozen podium finishes and level of consistency that drew plenty of attention. Following are some of the highlights of the season:
Fred Keown drew first blood with his convincing win at the Jack Frost TT. From there, the women took over many of the early season road events with Brooke McDermid's total domination of the Banana Belt Series (2 first place finishes, a third place, and first overall) and a strong showing by Sarah Eustis with a 3rd at Cherry Pie and 7th overall Banana Belt. The men rode strongly, too, with Brian Englehard's win at Piece of Cake, Tom Ghilarducci was 3rd at Banana Belt and 4th at Piece of Cake (after volunteering all morning), and we saw a 5th place at Banana Belt for Clint Ebert.
As the season progressed, things just got better: Brian Englehard could not be denied at PIR, winning nearly at will and earning himself promotion to Category 3. Tom Ghilarducci, Paul Zagacki, Casey Davidson, Danny Knudson, Bob Albano, Hugh Givens and Jason Pfeifer were also regular Monday Masters PIR racers -- with Paul placing as high as 2nd overall in points totals near the end of the season. The Mt Tabor Series also brought success with a 3rd place for John McCaffrey, a 4th and 5th for Lisa Heathman, and a win and two 4th place finishes for Sarah Eustis.
As the summer wore on, the criterium circuit heated up, and it seemed like there were few weekends where BicycleAttorney.com wasn't on the podium due to strong team riding: Tom Ghilarducci was very consistent with 5th at Vancouver, 6th at Mississippi, a win at Hillsboro, and 4th at Franz; Casey Davidson won at Vancouver, Clint Ebert took 3rd at a very tough Longview Crit; Paul Zagacki was 4th at Hillsboro; Hugh Givens took 2nd at Swan Island and 5th at Albany; Lisa Heathman was 3rd at Vancouver and 2nd at Longview; and Tom Morgan took two 2 place finishes at Hood River.
It's been a great year. There was plenty of action by many other people, too -- nice work everyone! Next year promises to be even better as we build the team new talent. Look for us on the podium next spring!
